Even his tombstone has 1868. see text for details.) at Princeton, WI. He passed to his eternal rest at 6.45 Aug 19th, 1939, having reached the age of 71 years and one day. He was the son of Frederick and Gustina Bandt, and was the youngest of six children. His mother died in his infancy. He came to Brown Co SD when 18 years old, and settled in Grant Co a few years later. In 1892 he was united in marriage with Amelia Bork who survives him. To this union six children were born of whom five survive namely: Walter, Lester, Viola (Mrs. Gordon Youells), Hazel (Mrs Loyal Rud) of Holloway MN and Kenneth of Newark, NJ. He is alos survived by nine grandchildren, one great grandson, four brothers, one half and two half sisters. He had been ailing for the past two years but had been able to carry on his usual duties until about two weeks ago when he became seriously ill. he was taken to the Milbank Hospital where he seemed to improve. He returned to his home where his progress continued satisfactorily until Saturday when he felt well enough to leave his bed and go downstairs to spend the afternoon with his invalid wife. About six o'clock, bidding her good bye he returned to his room where his daughter found him much worse. before passing away he told his family that a week previous he felt that he might not be able to see his beloved life companion again, but that one wish having been granted him he was content. He was a charter member of the Zoar Evangelical Church of Revillo of which he was a faithful member. He came to SD when it was still a territory, He saw it take its place in the sisterhood of states; whet thru the drouth and depression of the nineties and the trying years of the past decade but never lost faith in his adopted State which was shown by his willingness as a pioneer to improve such property that he owned within its borders. Funeral Services were held from the home and from the Evangelical church Tues afternoon. Rev Elgin Boegler and Rev Geo Zech of Aberdeen officiating. Interment was made in the Revillo cemetery. The pall bearers were James Nelson, Heny Marquette, Henry Hennings, FC Cahill, Phillip Port, and OE McIntyre. Those from a distance attending the funeral were Mr and Mrs Robert Bork of Watertown, Mr and Mrs Henry Marquette, Mrs Clara Marquette and Mrs Rowe Shaw of Milbank.
