A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18th, in the Committal Shelter of the Montana State Veterans Cemetery, 3550 Hero Rd, Ft. Harrison. Published by Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home, Helena, MT FOLLOW-UP Herman "Butch" Woehl, of Helena passed after a long hard battle with COPD and went home on April 2, 2019. Butch was born on November 4, 1935 in Burke, South Dakota to Pete and Martha Woehl. He is survived by his stepdaughter Marci Turney, Helena, stepson Jeffrey Farrell, Seattle, and daughter-in-law Phyllys Woehl, brother, Larry (Virginia), sisters Elaine Giles, and Ruth Anderson (Leighton), Ruth, sister-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Martha , wife Joyce Woehl, son Timothy Woehl, sisters; Irene, Ione and Sharon, and brothers; Ira, Norman, Ivan and Ed. Butch joined the army in August 1954 to August 1956 and was stationed in Alaska. He learned the meat cutting trade and began his career working at different stores in the Helena area and is most remembered for his hams. They were the best. He enjoyed fishing and road trips with his friend and neighbor's Jerry and Mary. He was blessed with a son, Timothy Woehl in 1959. He married Joyce on June 29, 1967, and they enjoyed 41 years of marriage together until she passed in 2008. Along with raising their kids, they fell in love with Pekingese and Poodles and spent many years breeding and raising them. There was nothing more amazing or (intimidating) when you would visit and they would let the sea of dogs out to greet you. He enjoyed cutting meat at his home for many years and for many hunters. He loved watching and feeding the birds in the backyard. He and Joyce adopted a wild cat that they took in as a house pet and was a close and loyal companion after his wife passed. He also feed the wild cats in his yard where he would watch from his windows. Rite of committal and military honors will be at the Committal Shelter at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison with full military honors on April 18, 2019 at 1 p.m. Reception at American Legion, 3095 Villard Ave in Helena after the service.
