Knock, son of Harm and Fenna (Niggendyker) Knock, was born March 16, 1910 in Dempster, SD. He grew up on the family farm. Herman was united in marriage with Gertie Hyronimus in Worthing, SD on March 3, 1937. The couple built a country store and gas station six miles south of Lennox, SD, which they owned and operated until 1946. They moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where he worked in the shipping department at Manchester Biscuit Company until they closed. Herman then worked for R-B Tank Company in Sioux Falls making redwood stock tanks. He retired from R-B Tank in 1972, but still sold tanks part-time from his home until moving to Tuff Memorial Home, Hills, MN, in the early 1990's. He was elected King of Tuff Memorial Home this past spring. He was a member of First Reformed Church in Sioux Falls. Grateful for having shared his life are his daughter, Elnora Ellie Sandager and her husband, Sheldon, Hill, MN; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Sandager and her husband, Tadashi Ide, Japan, Robert Sandager and his wife, Dawn, Hills, MN, Eugene Sandager and his wife, Shirley, Hills, MN, Jo Wulf and her husband, Floyd, Luverne, MN, Michael Sandager and his wife, Nancy, Hills, MN; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Clara Westerman and her husband, Jabbo, Chokio, MN; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Knock, Clear Lake, SD, Louise Knock, Marietta, MN; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gertie, on April 19, 1985; his parents; three brothers, Abraham, Nicholas, Freddie; and three sisters, Lizzie Marsh, Maggie Iwerks and Anna Lumberg. Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family for lunch and fellowship at First Reformed Church immediately following the funeral service and prior to leaving for the committal service.
