Wilkins of the Baptist Church, who was a neighbor and personal friend of the deceased, and was largely attended by the olf friends and neighbors who had known him so long. Herman Edward Geopfarth was born in Weimar, Germany July 9, 1846 and passed away at his home in Emerson, July 29, 1919. When a lad of sixteen, he immigrated to this country and a couple of years later returned to Germany and spent a winter there and has since then made his home in America. After living in several different states of the middle west where he worked at his trade as a jeweler, he located in Emerson forty-six years ago, first in the Shipman drug store and later in his own building which he has since occupied, making his the oldest jewelry business in the county. He was married January 1, 1881 to Miss Laura Jones. Five children were born to them, al of whom with the widow survive him and mourn their loss. They are George of Kay, Gee, Wyo.; Will., of Nampa, Idaho; Gertrude, of Minneapolis; Herb, of Omaha, and Mrs. Faye Clark, of Bolckow, Mo. All but George and Will were here to attend the funeral and the two daughters were with him at the end. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Louisa Buehler, of Montgomery county. Mr. Geopfarth was a member of the Emerson Presbyterian church from its beginning and lived according to Its teachings. He was a kind and thoughtful husband and father, a good citizen and a faithful friend. He lived his life quietly and in an unassuming manner but will be greatly missed by those who knew him best.
