He served three years in the army. In 1882 after he received his honorable discharge from the army he emigrated to the United States where he settled at Beloit, Kans. Zibell Herman Zibell, the son of Freerick and Wilheimina Zibell, was born at Gleutsch, Germany, October 23, 1858. His boyhood days were spent in Germany. He served three years in the army. In 1882 after he received his honorable discharge from the army he emigrated to the United States where he settled at Beloit, Kans. Two years later he moved to Netawaka where he started to farm. He resided in the neighborhood for three years. Later he moved to a farm west of Holton, in Banner neighborhood, where he remained until his death. On February 22, 1886, he was united in marriage to Margaret Lutz, who departed to the land beyond on March 14, 1927. To this union were boron seven children. Charles and Walter died in infancy. Lilly C., John Fred. Mabel E., Clarence H., and Percy Lee, all of Holton, Kans., survive. He had four brothers, Carl, who did not come to the United Stats; Albert and William who preceded him in death, and one living brother, August, of Holton. He has two living sisters, Mrs. Rinehaert Schultz and Mrs. Chas. Jacobs, all of Holton, Kans. Hi is also survived by five grandchildren, who are Robert and Wayne Dunn, and Shannon, Dale and Harold Zibell, besides a great number of other relatives and friends, who mourn his death. Herman as he was called by his friends and neighbors, was honest, ambitious, and he was loved by his friends and neighbors. About a year ago Mr. Zibell was stricken with a severe heart attack, but under the direction of his doctor he recovered. Abouth a month ago he was again stricken with the same aliment. He passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at his home during the early evening of Tuesday, November 24, 1936, at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 1 day. Funeral services were held at Holton by his [pastor, Rev. Hartmann, assisted by his near neighbor, M.G. Hamm, on Friday afternoon. The large attendance of friends and neighbors showed the high esteem in which he was held. He has served well to make the community better for his living in it. Deep sympathy abounds for the bereaved family. He rests min peace.
