He came to the United States in the years 1868 and stayed for a time in Manistee, Michigan, where he was married to Miss Emilie Sturmer, June 20, 1874. After living in Manistee a few years, they moved to Howard County, Ia., they also lived in the Bristol Community, Fillmore County, Minn., for a number of years, where he was a successful farmer and mad a very large circle of friends. About twelve years ago... Read More	The Lime Springs Sun Herald; Lime Springs, Iowa; Thursday, September 19, 1929: Herman Frank Lidtke, Sr Mr Lidtke was born in Germany November 14, 1842. He came to the United States in the years 1868 and stayed for a time in Manistee, Michigan, where he was married to Miss Emilie Sturmer, June 20, 1874. After living in Manistee a few years, they moved to Howard County, Ia., they also lived in the Bristol Community, Fillmore County, Minn., for a number of years, where he was a successful farmer and mad a very large circle of friends. About twelve years ago he retired and came to live in Lime Springs and here again he held the esteem of all who knew him. He passed away at his home Monday morning. He was confirmed in the Lutheran Church in Germany and has held his membership in that great church ever since. During the last few years bodily infirmity prevented him to attend public worship. He has left, to mourn his death, Mrs Emilie Lidtke, his widow, and five children, Mrs Henry Schacht, Albert Lidtke, Herman Lidtke, Jr., all of Lime Springs, Mr Arthur Lidtke of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs Amanda M Knapp of Chicago, Ill. There are eleven grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and many relatives in Iowa, Wisconsin and South Dakota. Memorial services will be held in the Presbyterian Church at 2 pm today conducted by Rev John Hammond, who will speak on the 23rd Psalm, one of the departed favorite Scriptures. Interment will be made in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
