In 1869 the Kading family emigrated to America, locating first at Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Mr. Kading received such educati9on as was available in the common schools of that state. Kading Obituary Herman Fredrick William Kading was born February 2nd, 1864, in Duebzor, Pomerania, Germany. In 1869 the Kading family emigrated to America, locating first at Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. Mr. Kading received such educati9on as was available in the common schools of that state. While still a resident of Wisconsin he was confirmed in the Lutheran church to which fellowship he remained faithful thereafter and was ever a staunch supporter of the local church. About the year 1879 the Kading family came to Adair County and settled on a farm south of Casey. A few years after Herman Kading's marriage, he bought the farm which still bears his name. He was married in 1887 to Catherine Tellkamp and to this union there were born six children. In 1927 he retired from active business life and moved from the farm to his late home in Casey where he passed the remainder of his life in comfortable and honorable leisure. In recent years he was a sufferer, from diabetes but always maintained a cheerful disposition with a kindly word for all his numerous friends. While attending church services April 3rd, he suffered a stroke of apoplexy from which he recovered sufficiently to be about. On May 16th, he suffered another stroke from which he never recovered and quietly fell asleep early Wednesday morning June 11th, at the age of 66 years, 4 months and 9 days. He was preceded in death by an infant child and his wife and son Harry, both of the latter during the year 1918. Four children survive him to mourn his loss; Charles Kading of Casey; Mrs. Augusta Hopp of Louisville, Nebraska; Mrs. Carrie Hain of Guthrie Center and Herman R. Kading of Casey. Also four grandchildren. The funeral services were held from the St. John's Lutheran church of Casey, of which he was a member, on June 13th, and interment was in Oakwood Cemetery.
