Description	:	Herman George Germer, 96, of Chappell, Ne. passed away August 10, 2010 in Chappell at the Miller Memorial Health Care Center. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday August 14, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Chappell, Ne. with Pastor Ezekiel Koech officiating. Interment will follow at the Berea Lutheran Church Cemetery. George was born February 10, 1914 in Laird, Saskatchewan, Canada to Herman George and Anna Louise (Rahe) Germer. Interment will follow at the Berea Lutheran Church Cemetery. George was born February 10, 1914 in Laird, Saskatchewan, Canada to Herman George and Anna Louise (Rahe) Germer. In 1916 they moved back to Plymouth, Ne. and started school in 1919. Later the family moved back to Saskatchewan looking for another farm and ended up in Eagle Butte, South Dakota for from 1924 to1928. The family even went to Spokane, Washington looking for a farm. In February 1928 George's Grandpa bought a quarter of land N.E. of Chappell and gave it to George's father. George was 14 years old when they moved to Chappell. He spent the rest of his life as a farmer in Deuel County. George was a member of the Berea Lutheran Church and United Methodist Church of Chappell George married Doris Orthengreen December 26,1943. They were married for 36 years when Doris passed away in August of 1979. George married Ardis Miller of Sterling, Co. in November 17, 1985. George enjoyed his friends and neighbors, farming, traveling, and dancing. George served on the boards of Wheatbelt Public Powers District, Deuel County Fair and the Berea Lutheran Church. George is survived by his wife, Ardis, son Robert Germer and wife Linda of Larned, Kansas, stepdaughter Sharon Blackham and husband Harold of Wray, Co., two grand children Chelsa (Jim) Hervert of Omaha, NE and Lindsey (Jarot) Frack of Wichita, KS , one step grandson Jason (Christy) Blackham of Washington, DC, and two great grandchildren Lucy Hervert and Lane Frack. George was preceded in death by his father and mother Herman and Anna (Rahe) Germer, wife Doris, his sister Hazel Foos.
