OBITUARY Herman Jacobi was born July 29, 1868 at Paderborn, Bidenriede, Germany and departed this life Feb. 8, 1952 at the age of 83 years, 6 months and 10 days. He came to this country at the age of 21 and settled with his parents at Madison, Nebr. He was united in marriage to Emelia Hamling on July 13, 1897 at St. Mary's church in Humphrey Nebr. To this union, 8 children were born, George of Omaha, Henry of Valley, Mrs. Joe Ripp of Fullerton, John Jacobi of San Francisco, Calif., Mrs. Richard Rutten of Albion, Mrs. J. H. Birkel of Waco, Texas, and Edward of Hastings. One daughter preceded him in death. He moved to Cedar Rapids in the year of 1909, having been engaged in farming until 1945 when he retired to live in town. He leaves to mour his passing his wife Emelia, seven children and two brothers, Beno and Gus Jacobi of Madison.
