Read More	Obituary of Herman Rexin taken from Scribner Rustler dated August 7, 1919 Herman Rexin, one of the pioneer business men of Scribner, has answered the last summons and his remains are now at rest at the Pebble Creek cemetery. The death of this respected man was a surprise to his family and friends. He had been in good health and attended to his duties at the hardware store until about two weeks ago, when he had to give up active work and take to his bed. His condition was not thought serious until the last few days when he gradually began to grow weaker. Mr. Rexin was widely known over the county and has held many public offices-being a member of the County Board of Supervisors for years, also serving on our school board for a number of terms, and before coming to town served in like capacity on the board in District No. 44. Herman Rexin was born in Germany, February 7, 1854. He with his father's family came to America in 1865 locating in Illinois, where he lived with his parents until 1870, when he came to Nebraska. On December 26, 1878, near Scribner, he was joined in wedlock to Anna Bubbert, and to this union five children were born. Family ties were broken twelve years ago when his wife passed away; later again when a daughter died. He farmed five miles southwest of Scribner until about ten years ago, when he retired from active farming and moved to Scribner. Two years later he purchased the hardware store, which business he continued until about two weeks ago when he was taken sick. After an illness of two weeks he quietly went to sleep, leaving to mourn his departure four children: Alfred, Arthur, Mrs. Alma Brandt, and Mrs. Anna Rainey. Funeral services were held at the Congregational Church Sunder afternoon conducted by Rev. Birch. The service were largely attended from over the county which spoke more than words of the standing of the deceased in the community.
