Lang, 81, of 621 Plymouth St. NW, well-known farm operator here and lifelong Plymouth county resident, died unexpectedly late Monday afternoon at Sacred Heart hospital. Although he had suffered, ailing health for several years, Mr. Lang remained active even though retired from farming. He had been hospitalized one day. Funeral services were at 2 p. m. Thursday at St John American Lutheran church here, of which he was a member. Rev L. L. Belk and Rev Robert Floy officiated. Burial was in the city cemetery under directions of Mauer's Funeral Home. Herman Robert Lang was born August 25, 1881 in Stanton Township the son of Christian and Pauline Schulz Lang. He farmed in Stanton Township for many years before moving to a farm home at the west edge of Le Mars in 1929. His marriage to Clara Binneboese took place November 1, 1904, in Lincoln Township near Hinton. Surviving are his wife, Clara, and nine children, Mrs. Paul (Ella) Henrich, Mrs. Lillian Luken, Clarence, LeRoy, Mrs. Evelyn Cunningham, Mrs. Herbert (Darlene) Doering and Mrs. Betty Trudeau, all of Le Mars, Mrs. Alwin (Marjorie) Eilts, Boulder, Colorado and Mrs. Terry (Eugenia) Heller of Des Moines. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and a brother, Fred Lang of Le Mars. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
