Mr. Keefer was born in Columbus Aug. 7, 1901, the son of William and Christine Nauenburg Keefer. He was married to Anna M. Kaipust Aug. 12, 1929, at St. Joseph church, Platte Center, and they made their home here. Mr. Keefer was employed by the municipal water department as an operator. Mr. Keefer served in Company I, 55th Infantry, from Jan 19, 1921, to July 15, 1921, and in the 110th Medical Regiment, Nebraska national guard, from April 18, 1938, to Sept. 3, 1940. He was a sergeant at time of discharge. He was a member of St. Anthony church. Surviving are his wife; three sons, Richard of Kearney, Herman C. of Omaha and Merlyn of Columbus; nine grandchildren; two brothers Chris of Columbus and Bill of Newton, Ia.; and one sister, Mrs. G.R. (Tillie) Kreshaw (sic) of Laramie, Wyo. Mr. Keefer was preceded in death by one son, Dwayne, Nov. 6, 1958, and his parents. [NOTE: Sister was married to George R. KERSHAW.]
