Description	:	Herman Yeager, 77, left to be with his Maker on Oct. 10, 1998, at Deaconess Medical Center in Billings, MT. Herman was born in Sidney, MT. on Nov. 18, 1920, to Henry and Eva (Bott) Yeager. Herman lived in Sidney until he was two years old, at which time the family moved to Laurel where he resided until the time of his death. Herman was born in Sidney, MT. on Nov. 18, 1920, to Henry and Eva (Bott) Yeager. Herman lived in Sidney until he was two years old, at which time the family moved to Laurel where he resided until the time of his death. In 1943, Herman enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Reno in the South Pacific. He survived numerous Japanese attacks, two sinking ships, and was honorably discharged in 1946. Returning to Laurel, he went to work for the Northern Pacific Railroad. After 43 years of railroading, he retired in 1980. He then went to work for the Mill and Italian Ditch Companies as a rider for eight years. He also worked for various farmers in Laurel. He was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church in Laurel and was active in the church. Herman married Dolores Whitman in Billings on April 19, 1950. They had four children and 48 years of happiness. Herman's greatest love was his family and grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan. In 1995-96 he was presented with the Booster of the Year Award. Herman will be remembered for his kind heart, helping hand and his sense of humor. Hermas is survived by his wife, Dolores and four children; Sam Yeager and wife Marge of Casper, Wyo., Yvonne Hutzenbiler and husband Ron of Kalispell, MT., Jim Yeager and wife Shelly of Columbus, MT., Sue Knaub and husband Jeff of Laurel; two sisters, Mary Kramer of Billings, and Amelia Yeager of Laurel; 11 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Herman was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
