Mrs. Den Hartog was born in Maurice on February 2, 1935, to Jacob and Antonia (Van Donkelaar) Mulder. As a young child she settled in Sioux Center with her family. On August 25, 1951, she was united in marriage to Howard Den Hartog in Orange City. The couple first made their home in Sheldon, where they lived for 11 years before moving to Sioux Center in May of 1963. She raised their four children and also did the bookkeeping for their business, Den Hartog Plumbing & Heating. She was a member of First Reformed Church of Sioux Center. She filled her spare time with crafting and sewing. She enjoyed playing cards with others at Tuesday night Dinner Date. She always kept her home in meticulous order, but also enjoyed working outdoors in her yard, caring for the lawn and flowers. She loved to go camping and always focused her attention on her family and their activities. She had battled various health issues over the past 22 months. She filled much of that time working on her many puzzles. She truly appreciated the love and care she received from her family. Survivors are her husband of 52 years, Howard, of Sioux Center; four children: Keith (Valerie) Den Hartog of Sioux Center, Sandra (Gary) Walker of Sioux City, Steven (Amy) Den Hartog of Hull and Kevin Den Hartog of Sioux Center; seven grandchildren; a step-grandson; a great-granddaughter; two brothers; John Mulder and James "Guy" Mulder, both of Sioux Center; two sisters: Dora (Erv) Van Zee and Gerdena Deinken, both of Sioux Center; three sisters-in-law: Katherine Armington of Sioux Center, Norma Kruse of Rock Rapids, and Minnie Den Hartog of Pipestone, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Anthony Mulder.
