Funeral services were Monday, May 6, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Hooper, with Rev. Rodney Meske officiating. Krohn was born Oct. 23, 1920, in Washington County to Emil and Louise (Wittman) Krohn. He grew up on the farm, and graduated from Immanuel Lutheran School, located east of Winslow. During World War II, from 1942 until 1946, he served in the United States Navy with the SeaBees. He saw service in England and in Okinawa, Japan. On June 30, 1946, he married Elva Hartung in the Immanuel Lutheran Church. After serving in the military, he farmed briefly in Washington County and then, in 1947, the couple moved to a farm in Burt County where they remained until his death. Along with farming, Mr. Krohn also did carpentry work. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and its Lutheran Laymen’s League. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 127 of Craig, and the Hooper-Winslow V.F.W. Post No. 10535. An avid bowler, he was a member of the American Bowling Congress and participated in many bowling tournaments around the country. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Hour, and Lutheran Family Services. Ludvigsen Mortuary in Fremont was in charge of arrangements.
