She passed away June 22, 2014, at the age of 89, at the Richardson Cottage in Laurel. After completing her education, she worked for a company newspaper and provided written articles. Read More	Herta Frank was born Dec. 8, 1924, in Bremen, Germany, to Hermann Elfers and Hermine Steding Elfers. She passed away June 22, 2014, at the age of 89, at the Richardson Cottage in Laurel. After completing her education, she worked for a company newspaper and provided written articles. Upon the advance of WWII, she became involved with the USO (United Services Organization) which provides support for American servicemen. During this job, Herta met Alex P. Frank, and after getting to know each other, he proposed marriage. So, she migrated to the U.S.A., specifically Laurel, and they were married on Dec. 16, 1947. Herta adapted to many life changes such as learning a new language, English, adjusting to farm living and meeting many new folks. Throughout the years Herta enjoyed many types of card games with different organizations and many friends. She attended Garden Club, Hobby Club and attended Montana Women's State Conferences. Throughout over 65 years residing in America, Herta and her sister, Margot Berg-Boencke, took turns traveling between Germany and the U.S.A. Herta would visit Stefan Berg, Margot's son, plus other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Alex Frank. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, at Smith Funeral Chapel in Laurel.
