Hester Ann was a grand lady pioneer who followed first her father and then her husband as they moved westward following the opening of new farm lands.We are not sure if Arthur made it to Nebraska or whether he died in Iowa prior to the migration to Nebraska; but we do know that Hester Ann took out homestead papers for the farm in Nebraska.Not only did she raise her own children but took over responsability for the two Potts orphans ( Arthur Michael and Robert Alvin ) who became too much for their other grandmother Sarah (Royce) Sheldon, herself a young widow with a large family and responsability for running a farm.
