Description	:	Note: on October 2, 2016, I received an edit request from findagrave member rognliz, #47788685, asking me to add the middle name of Jane into Hester's memorial. Hester's birth record in ancestry.com, simply shows the middle initial of J. I do not see a middle name given in any of the records in ancestry.com, nor is a middle name given in her obituary, which I have transcribed below. I have checked her death record at the Wapello County Court House, and it just gives the middle initial of J as well. I have decided to go ahead... I have checked her death record at the Wapello County Court House, and it just gives the middle initial of J as well. I have decided to go ahead and accept this edit request, but I cannot verify that Jane is Hester's correct middle name through any records that I have found. Also, Hester's obituary stated that she was born in Belknap, Iowa. Her birth record showed that she was born near Floris, Iowa. Belknap and Floris are both small towns in Davis County, Iowa, and they are not located far from each other. Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” April 4, 1967: Mrs. Hester J. O’Connell, 74, of 915 Hackberry died at 1 a.m. today at St. Joseph Hospital, following several weeks of failing health. The daughter of Dennis and Delia Griner [sic] Conner, she was born in Belknap on July 7, 1892. She was a resident of Ottumwa most of her life and married Thomas T. O’Connell on June 10, 1914, in Ottumwa. Survivors include her husband; one son, Paul O’Connell of Quincy, Ill.; three grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Conner of California; and three sisters, Helen Till of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., Mrs. Paul Benau of New York City, and Rose Bintz of Omaha. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmother, Grace Conner; and two sisters. Funeral services are pending at Jay Funeral Home. Funeral services for Mrs. Hester J. O’Connell, 74, of 915 Hackberry, who died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital, will be held Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Jay Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Eugene Smith of Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
