Description	:	Mrs. A. J. Whitney. Hester Jane Crom was born Nov. 20, 1857 at Magnolia, Ia. and died Sunday Jan. 9, at Blencoe, being the daughter of Josiah and Mary Ann Crom. She was married to A. J. Whitney July 4, 1875. To this union were born five children four sons and one daughter, one son and daughter dying in infancy. J. Whitney. Hester Jane Crom was born Nov. 20, 1857 at Magnolia, Ia. and died Sunday Jan. 9, at Blencoe, being the daughter of Josiah and Mary Ann Crom. She was married to A. J. Whitney July 4, 1875. To this union were born five children four sons and one daughter, one son and daughter dying in infancy. The husband and three sons survive, Clyde of Little Sioux, Charles of Minnesota, Dick at home with his father, also four grandchildren, one of whom had always made her home with her grandparents. She is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Minnie Howard of Woodbine, Mrs. Mattie Griffin of Kansas City, Mrs. J. C. Brown of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Nancy Landon of Horton, Kansas, and two brothers, Harve Crom of Tekamah, Nebr., and Walter Crom of Magnolia, Ia., besides many other relatives and friends who mourn her death. Mrs. Whitney had been ill for only a short time with the “grippe” and her death is a blow to her family and friends. She was an ideal wife and mother and devoted to her home. Deceased was an aunt of Joe Brown of this city. The funeral was held from the home at Blencoe Tuesday at 10:00 a. m. Rev. McClanahan of the Congregational church having charge of the services.
