She was married to Teunis Den Hartog on October 23, 1890. After immigrating to American, they lived near Pella for five years, afterwards moving on the farm of John Gosseling in the vicinity of Prairie City. After four years they moved to their present home on the P.G. Gaas farm south of Eddyville where they have lived for the past fourteen years. Read More	OBIT: Mrs. Teunis Den Hartog was born September 13, 1869 at Tuil in Haaften province of Gelderland Netherlands. Her maiden name was Hester Verploegh. She was married to Teunis Den Hartog on October 23, 1890. After immigrating to American, they lived near Pella for five years, afterwards moving on the farm of John Gosseling in the vicinity of Prairie City. After four years they moved to their present home on the P.G. Gaas farm south of Eddyville where they have lived for the past fourteen years. Though a bed-patient for twenty-three weeks she bore her suffering and pain with remarkable Christian fortitude, patience and courage, in the singleness of spirit of a trustful quiet soul. On the nineteenth day of September, 1936 she passed away to her eternal reward, at the home of her son Hubert Den Hartog, at the age of 67 years and six days. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, twelve children, Mrs. W.R. Dieleman; Mrs. James Van Halm Fairfield, Iowa; Mrs. Walter Geurts; Mrs. Corneilia Cornelissen; Mrs. Gerrit Van Oene, and Hubert, Arie, Chris, Bastian, Teunis and William of Eddyville and John Den Hartog of Oskaloosa; also a niece Mrs. H Bokhoven of New Sharon Iowa; and a nephew, Christ Verploegh of Eddyville. A sister and a brother as also many other near kindred are still living in the Netherlands. At the age of 21, Mrs. Den Hartog made a confession of her faith in the land. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Eddyville, and also a member and active worker in the ladies aid society. She mothered her family with the tenderest care, and being of a friendly personality, she has taken in many a stranger who had need of their hospitality. Funeral Services were held from the First Reformed Church Friday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock with the pastor, Rev. W.M. Duven officiating. Rev. George Muyskens of Oskaloosa assisted. Burial was made in Highland Cemetery.
