Description	:	HEZEKIAH was born in 1761 at a place then called "Soper's Landing". He was the son of Joseph Soper (born 1720 in Waretown, NJ) who married Mary Wright in 1720 in Waretown. Mary Wright was born 1724 in Staten Island, NY, and died 1792 in Waretown, NJ Hezekiah died on October 10, 1846 in the 86th year of his life. He was the son of Joseph Soper (born 1720 in Waretown, NJ) who married Mary Wright in 1720 in Waretown. Mary Wright was born 1724 in Staten Island, NY, and died 1792 in Waretown, NJ Hezekiah died on October 10, 1846 in the 86th year of his life. He married Temperance Sprague, daughter of James Sprague and Rachel Perkins Sprague of Spraggtown. She was called "Tempie". Temperance Sprague Soper died on May 26, 1837. (Rachel Perkins was the daughter of John Perkins who came from England sometime during the French and Indian war and settled between Barnegat and Waretown. His property here was sold to Joseph Soper and became known as Soper's Landing.) Hezekiah Soper and his family lived on a small farm on the Old Main Shore Road between Barnegat and Waretown. He owned the land from there down to the BayShore where he had his boats and his mowing and pasture meadows for his cattle. He built three houses on the upper farm property tract. After he got too old to carry on the work, his son-in-law, James Letts moved into the farmhome and lived there until he died. It has been abandoned for many years, and is known as the Letts Place.
