Hezekiah William Anderson was born in Morgan county, Kentucky, on October 4th, 1838, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L.D. Kling, northeast of Howard, Kansas, November 20, 1921, aged 83 years, 1 month and 16 days. In his early childhood, he with his parents moved to Bath county, Kentucky, where he grew to manhood. He was united in marriage October 1, 1861, to Susan Anderson, who passed from this life about eight years ago. To this union were born three sons and three daughters, S.U. and H.N. Anderson of Howard, and Rev. R.A. Anderson of Baldwin and Mrs. L.D. Kling, Mrs. B.T. McKirahan, and Mrs. A.H. Hubbell, all of near Howard. The sons and daughters were all present at the funeral services, and mourn the loss of a father. In 1884, Mr. Anderson with his wife and children, came to Howard, and this vicinity has been his home until he answered the summons on Sunday evening at 6:30. Mr. Anderson became a Christian in early manhood, and trusted all to his Master, knowing that "Jesus doeth all things well." To such times as these, the Brotherhood of Man is recognized in the Fatherhood of God, and life begun is continued in that land where there is no parting; no sickness; no death; all former things are passed away. Besides sons and daughters, there are grandsons and daughters and many relatives more distant, and many friends and neighbors of his residence of almost forty years in this community; these mourn the loss of a father and neighbor. The funeral services were held at the Methodist church in Howard, on Monday afternoon, November 21st, at 2:30, conducted by the pastor, Rev. J.R. Creamer, and all that was mortal of a Father love and lost awhile, was laid to rest in the Grace Lawn cemetery. (transcribed by Judy Mayfield)
