As a child he moved with his parents to Ticonic, Iowa. On January 22, 1893, he married Laura Bell, daughter of Benjamin and Rebecca (Cottrell) Miller. Mother Laura Belle was born on April 11, 1875. They continued to live it Ticonic, Iowa, until March 1904, when they came by rail to Clearwater, Nebraska, with the four oldest children, settling on a farm southwest of Clearwater. They continue to farm in the vicinity until Uncle Ernest's death, on January 10, 1931. Laura Bell passed away August 27, 1938. They were the parents of nine children; a son died at birth. Children: Cleo David was born on March 3, 1894, at Ticonic, Iowa. He married Goldie Myrtle McVay on October 20, 1921, at Neligh. They lived at Clearwater and Bartlett, Nebraska, before moving to Lincoln. They were the parents of four children, Twyla (Mrs. Glen Burge), Velma, Cleo Dele (Mrs. Don Wissink) and Raymond. Cleo passed away on December 12, 1959, at Lincoln. Yvette Bell was born on March 7, 1897, at Ticonic, Iowa. She was married to Joseph H. Ruterbories on May 4, 1916, at Clearwater. They farmed near Clearwater, Petersburg and Oakdale. They had 10 children, Kathleen (Mrs. Harold Rothlisburger), Duane, Bernard, James Doyle, Vincent, Francis, Patricia (Mrs. Greg O'Shea), Jo Ann (Mrs. J. Jerouski), Caryl. Yvette passed away on January 27, 1968, at Tilden. Joseph died on November 14, 1976, at Neligh. Ruth Annie was born on August 10, 1899, at Ticonic, Iowa and married Archie D. Wolfe on October 1, 1919, at Neligh. They farmed near Clearwater and Ewing before moving to Clearwater. They were the parents of 10 children, six dying in infancy. Surviving children are: Glenn, Norma Jean (Mrs. Joy Wilcox), Maedean (Mrs. Darrell Peters) and Larry. Ruth passed away on January 27, 1965. Archie died on October 6, 1972. Mildred Ernestine was born on August 4, 1901, at Ticonic, Iowa, and was married to Wilbert J. Hoskinson on March 8, 1922, at Neligh. They lived at Clearwater, Petersburg, Cedar Rapids and Albion, before moving to Prineville, Oregon. They were the parents of 13 children, Vera (Mrs. Robert Schnoor), June (Mrs. William Higham), Boyd, Donna (Mrs. Roberts Smith), Shirley (Mrs. Harold Searcey), Roger, Wilbert (Bill), Bethyl (Mrs. H. Callies), Mildred (Mrs. Lee Moeller), Jeral (Mrs. Curt Bateman), James, Jeanine (Mrs. Ron Wachs) and Ronald. Wilbur passed away on January 24, 1956, at Prineville. Evans Edgar was born on June 18, 1904, at Clearwater. He farmed in Clearwater vicinity, was in the Army during World War II, with the 401st MP, stationed at El Paso, Texas, and Alva, Oklahoma. After his discharge, he returned to farming. He passed away on March 30, 1985, at Tilden. Elizabeth Marie was born on October 31, 1906, at Clearwater and passed away on February 12, 1915, at Clearwater. Harold Miller was born on January 29, 1909, at Clearwater. He married Luellen Schober at Ewing on June 14, 1932. They farmed near Clearwater and Ewing. He did trucking. He ran a drive-in before retiring to Clearwater. Three children were born to them, Lewis, Bonnelle (Mrs. Richard Kalloff) and Donald. Hilda Adele was born on October 5, 1911, at Clearwater. After the death of her father, she and her mother made their home with Evans. They took care of their mother until her death. They continued to make their home together, retiring to Clearwater in 1967 because of Evans' failing health.
