Reverends Jean & Warren Alnor officiated with burial in Union Cemetery in Spencer. Hilda Esther Meyer was born January 25, 1909 at Wisner, Nebraska to Anna (Elmers) Meyer and Christian Meyer. Reverends Jean & Warren Alnor officiated with burial in Union Cemetery in Spencer. Hilda Esther Meyer was born January 25, 1909 at Wisner, Nebraska to Anna (Elmers) Meyer and Christian Meyer. As a young child she moved with her family to a farm near Orchard, NE. As a young woman she was employed in Spencer, NE and Yankton, SD. On February 8,1928 she was united in marriage to James Pokorny and to this union two daughters were born, Phyllis Jean and LaVerne Mae. James and Hilda farmed near Spencer, NE until his death on Dec. 31, 1972. On March 1, 1977 Hilda married Emil Micanek and they moved to Lynch, NE. Emil passed away March 31, 1990. Hilda moved to the Highland House in Spencer on February 23, 2000 where she resided until February 1, 2006 when she moved to the Butte Healthcare Center where she passed away on March 27,2006. Hilda joined the Methodist Church in 1926 and remained active in church work all of her life. She was a member of the Friendly Garden Club, the Gross Women's Club and the Niobrara Valley Hospital Auxiliary. In 1984 she was a recipient of the Aksarben Good Neighbor Award. Hilda was an accomplished seamstress, an avid gardener, and helped organize the Spencer Senior Center. Hilda leaves to mourn one daughter; Seven grandchildren; nine great-grand children; four great-great-grand daughters; one step-daughter and four step-grand children, a number of great step-grand children and a large number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, six sisters, daughter LaVerne Baldridge and numerous nieces and nephews. BROCKHAUS FUNERAL HOME; Spencer, NE
