Description	:	Mrs. Hilda Jernigan Kelly, age 91, of the Red Hill Community, Mount Olive, NC died early Friday morning, July 31, 2020. Graveside services were officiated by the Reverend Paul Rose on Wednesday, August 5, at 10 a.m. in Maplewood Cemetery, Mount Olive, NC. The family greeted friends at the cemetery after the service, and were at the home of Amanda and Tim Jenkins at all other times. Mrs. Kelly was a native of the Indian Springs community in Wayne County, and was daughter of the late Harvey and Margaret Lane Jernigan. Upon her marriage to George A. Kelly of the Red Hill community in Duplin, it was there that they made their home. Though she had transferred her church membership from Northeast Original Free Will Baptist (her home church and that of her family) to Alum Springs Baptist (the home church of Mr. Kelly and the Kelly family) in her later years, she still maintained a high allegiance to Northeast. Mrs. Kelly was an excellent homemaker and a wonderful cook, always providing big, hearty meals for her family and those she loved and cared about. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Kelly; their daughter, Linda Kelly Turner; a brother, Harvey S. Jernigan; a sister, Eunice J. Rains; a special niece, Beverly Rains; and a nephew, Stevie Jernigan. Her survivors include two grandchildren, Amanda Turner Jenkins and husband, Tim, of the Red Hill Community, and Ryan Turner and wife, Brittney, of Kenansville; five great-grandchildren, Raegen and Madison Turner, and Peyton, Gage, and Cole Jenkins; her son-in-law, Charles Turner and his wife, Joan Jones Turner, of the Pleasant Grove community; two sisters, Maggie J. Barwick and Margaret Ann J. Reaves, and a sister-in-law, Peggy L. Jernigan, all of the Mount Olive/Dudley areas; and several nieces and nephews. Tyndall Funeral Home of Mt. Olive, NC served the family.
