Mrs Janke was born on Nov 17, 1913 in Andreske, Rumania. In 1952, she migrated with her two children to Odessa, where that same year she was married to Ben Janke. For more than 30 years she was employed as a cook at Odessa Memorial Hospital. Her home once was the gathering place for the old-time and other residents for 'kaffee und kuc hen', as she was noted for her German cooking. She continued her hospitality until a few months ago, when illness forced her to live with her daughter. Both her children were graduated from Odessa High School. Survivors include a son of Tacoma; her daughter of Walnut Creek, four grandsons and one great grandson. ref: Odessa Record scrapbook-undated
