On the 1920 US Census, Hilda was listed as Hildegard, but as Hilda grew older, she used the American "Hilda" as her first name on legal documents. Hilda was married to a Hans K. Hansen, and they were blessed with at least one child, Marie Katherin Imus, and on Marie's Social Security Application they were named as her parents. Read More	Hilda was born December 23, 1914 in Stanton County, Nebraska to John and Emelia Dorothea (Kersten) Schwanke. On the 1920 US Census, Hilda was listed as Hildegard, but as Hilda grew older, she used the American "Hilda" as her first name on legal documents. Hilda was married to a Hans K. Hansen, and they were blessed with at least one child, Marie Katherin Imus, and on Marie's Social Security Application they were named as her parents. The 1937 City Directory of Fremont, Nebraska lists Hans K. and Hilda L. living at 505 S. Broad in Fremont. Hans was a laborer. In 1937, she had met a poultry buyer in Fremont named Sigurd Larsen. He told her he had been born in Denmark. On December 30, 1937, Sigurd married Hilda Hanaen, née Schwanke, in Logan, Iowa by a Justice of the Peace. According to their marriage license, it was a 1st marriage for Sigurd and 2nd for Hilda. They were blessed with at least two children:Donald Lee Larsen and Shirley Mae Larsen, and on Donald's and Shirley's Social Security Application they were named as parents. In 1939, Hilda and Sigurd were living at 1149 N. Pierce in Fremont, Nebraska. That year, Sigurd was working as a clerk for Larsen Produce in Fremont. Sigurd and Hilda continued living in Fremont, Nebraska until the end of their lives. On their Social Security Death Certificate, their last mailing address was in Fremont, Nebraska. According to her obituary in the Fremont Tribune, Hilda was born and grew up in Stanton County, Nebraska, then farmed a while near Kennard, Nebraska, then lived in Blair, Nebraska before moving to Fremont. She was preceded in death by one son and survived by: 2 daughters: Mrs Dale (Shirley) Adams of Fremont and Mrs Sidney (Marie) Dryden of Taconite, MN; three sons: Martin Schwanke of Ames, NE; Donald Hansen of Fremont and George Larsen of Winslow,NE. She was also survived by her sister Jeanette Jindra. On the 1940 census Martin Schwanke, Marie Hansen and Donald Hansen are listed as Sigurd's step-children. Donald's and Martin's obituaries do not list parents but both mention Aunt Jeanette Jindra. I believe Marie and Donald are Hans V Hansen's children despite what they said on their SSN applications.
