She was the daughter of John and Alice Backman. She was a devoted member of Central United Church. Surviving are a son, Charles; a daughter, Alice (Mrs. Dougald Burke), Lunenburg; a sister, Mary (Mrs. John Griffin), Antrim, New Hampshire; two grandsons; and three great - grandchildren.
