Read More	Hilda Smith Ambrose July 14, 1932-November 26, 2016 Aynor Hilda Smith Ambrose, age 84 of Aynor, SC, passed away on November 26, 2016. She was the beloved daughter of the late John Walter Smith and Mary Daniels Smith of Horry. Hilda graduated from Aynor High School and Columbia College. She was an active member in the community and a devoted member of Aynor United Methodist Church. Church, family, and friends were Hilda's passion and delight. She grew up in a large family of 8 children who grew up in Horry. They were very close to one another, and their extended families remain close to this day. Hilda taught in Horry County Schools for 33 years, and her love for her students made a lasting impression on all who were blessed to call her teacher. Hilda always had a smile and an encouraging word for everyone she met. She radiated kindness and grace and her peaceful spirit blessed everyone whose life she touched. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Billy Ambrose, and by four children and their families. Her children include: Page (Cindy) Ambrose, Kim (Thlisa) Ambrose, Mary (Garon) Grainger, and Teddy (Katina) Ambrose. Her grandchildren include Alex, Austin, Madison, Darby, Grayson, Gentry, Jacob, Abigail, and Olivia. Hilda is survived by her sister, Johnie (Arlis) Dawsey and was predeceased by three sisters, Hazel Davis, Eloise Hucks, and Inez Causey; and four brothers, Woodrow Smith, Hubert Smith, Enoch Smith, and Travis Smith. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at Aynor United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Rev. Joyce Murphy will be officiating. Burial will follow in Aynor Cemetery.
