Hilda Verdene Siefken was born on October 26, 1921, the daughter of Simon and Hilka (Siebrands) Siefken. She received her education in the Reinbeck Community School District. Funeral services at Union Community Church in Union, Iowa. Hilda Verdene Siefken was born on October 26, 1921, the daughter of Simon and Hilka (Siebrands) Siefken. She received her education in the Reinbeck Community School District. On October 24, 1939, Hilda married Floyd Aswegan in Reinbeck, Iowa, they lived in Reinbeck, Grundy Center, and in Union, Iowa, from 1952 until moving to Grandview Heights Nursing Home. Hilda worked beside her husband Floyd when they were farming, she had been a Stanley Product Distributor for 37 years, and she had worked at Ben Franklin in Eldora for a few years. Hilda was a member of Union Community Church and served in several capacities, also singing in the choir, she was a member of American Legion Auxiliary and in earlier years she had been 4-H leader. Hilda loved her family especially her grand and great-grandchildren, she always enjoyed the outdoors growing all kinds of flowers, inside and out, loved to fish and camp, but one of her favorite things was cooking and sharing with all her family. Surviving are her husband of 73 years, Floyd; her daughters, Donna (Fred) Mitchem of Marshalltown, Iowa, Alice (Richard) Lyman of Tama, Iowa, Judith (Doug) Bagenstos of Oelwein, Iowa, and Jane (Ronald) Puls of Malcomb, Iowa; and grandchildren, Mike (Darlene) Mitchem, Pamela (Craig)Muench, Jeffrey (Joni) Lyman, David (Stacey) Lyman, Rodney (Donna) Lyman, Trent (Genell) Lyman, Mark (Jeanne) Bagenstos, Clint (Jenny) Bagenstos, Tammy (Chris) Morrison, Troy (Linda) Wilson, and Jamie Wilson; 34 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Mavis Mathern of Dunnellan, Florida, Marlin (Gail) Siefken of Kansas City, Marie Smith of Lincoln, Iowa, Donald (Joann) Siefken of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sister-in-law June Seifken of Des Moines, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.
