Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton, SD with Rev. Mark Lichter celebrating and Rev. Pallbearers are Charlie Weber, Christopher Weber, Daniel Weber, Joseph Weber, Don Hoesing, Duane Hoesing Hilda was born April 18, 1918, in Menominee, NE, to Theodore and Anna (Haverman) Schaefer. She went to school at St. Boniface Catholic School. She lived in Sioux City, Iowa during WWII and worked as a waitress at the Non-Commissioned Officers club there. After the war, she was married to Joseph Weber on November 23, 1948 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Menominee, and they moved to Villisca, Iowa, where they owned and operated a Family Shoe Store for five years. They moved to Yankton in 1953 where Hilda and Joe operated Joe's Package Liquor Store in Yankton for many years. Hilda was an active member of Sacred Heart Parish. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary and the DAV Auxiliary, serving as Commander and Life Member. Hilda was well known for her handiwork, creating knitting, crocheting, and quilting for family and friends. She is survived by her son Lee, and his wife, Mary Lou of Cedar Falls, IA, and five grandchildren: Charlie Weber, Chris Weber, Mary (Weber) Black, Dan Weber, and Joe Weber; her sister, Grace Hoesing of Fordyce, NE. In December, she would have become a Great Grandmother for the first time. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe and brother-in-law, Francis Hoesing.
