HINRICHS FUNERAL HELD LAST SATURDAY Funeral services for Hilka Catherina Hinrichs were held from the Goettsch funeral home to Zion Evangelical Lutheran church in Wayne township, last Saturday afternoon. Rev. F.H. Kehren officiated at both services. The church service was held at 2 p.m. and interment was made at the cemetery adjoining the church. Mrs. Hinrichs was born July 11, 1860, at Marx, Ostfriesland, Germany, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Henry Janssen. She was married to John D. Hinrichs March 5, 1887 in Germany. Mr. Hinrichs had been in America from 1881 to 1886. He returned to Germany in 1887,where he was married to Hilka C. Janssen. They observed their fifty-ninth wedding anniversary last spring. They returned to the United States, coming directly to Wayne township after they landed in New York, and settled on a farm five miles southeast of Monticello where they lived until 1926, when they moved to Jackson township where they lived with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Albert L. Oltmanns for ten years. Then they bought a home in Cass Center, where they lived seven years, and thereafter made their home with their children. Eight children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hinrichs. These included: John Henry, and Tobias, of Monticello, and Mrs. Albert L. Oltmanns, of Anamosa, who survive. Three sons died in infancy, a daughter, Mrs. Mary Folkers, in September, 1940, and Mrs. Mate Oltmanns in April, 1946, also preceded her mother in death Mrs. Hinrichs had been in failing health for some time and had been a patient in the John McDonald hospital for 33 days prior to her death, which occurred at 4:20 a.m., July 3. She is survived by her husband, John D. Hinrichs, 84,and the children above mentioned. Mrs. Hinrichs had 24 grandchildren, three of whom preceded her in death. They were Lena Oltmanns, Dorothea Oltmanns and Edna Hinrichs.
