Hiram got discouraged on Hawaiian mission and he left the islands. Hiram was the first president of the Hawaiian Mission. Hiram preached in several of the Eastern cities on his way to England to perform a mission in that land. Hiram was appointed to go on a mission to Pike, Brown, and Adams Counties, Illinois. Hiram filled a successful mission preaching the gospel in England, the Isle of Man, Ireland, and Scotland. He opened the Isle of Man for missionary work. He was called to fill a mission in California 1850. Hiram sailed on ship "Sheffield" from Liverpool leading 235 Saints to U.S. on February 7, 1841. Hiram sailed on "Glasgow" from Liverpool with 150 Saints on March 5, 1844 and arrived at Nauvoo on April 26, 1844. Hiram sailed the "Liverpool" from Liverpool on January 6, 1846 with 45 Saints bound for Nauvoo via New Orleans. At a meeting presided over by Charles C. Rich held on the banks of the Sacramento River, California, September 25, 1850, Elder Clark, who had previously filled two missions to Great Britain, was appointed to preside over the Hawaiian Mission, and he with others left a California mining camp October 18, 1850, for San Francisco, where they embarked on the ship "Imaum" November 22, 1850, and arrived in Honolulu December 12, 1850.
