Description	:	Wednesday July 18, 1906 The Marion Register Hiram J. Wiley was born in Morgan county, Ohio, September 12, 1839, and died in Marion, Iowa, July 14, 1906, aged 66 years 10 months and 2 days. He was the youngest of eight children and is survived by only two brothers, B.A. Wiley of Garland, Kan., and J.W. Wiley of Gaborn, Mo., both of whom were with him at the time of his death. Read More	Wednesday July 18, 1906 The Marion Register Hiram J. Wiley was born in Morgan county, Ohio, September 12, 1839, and died in Marion, Iowa, July 14, 1906, aged 66 years 10 months and 2 days. He was the youngest of eight children and is survived by only two brothers, B.A. Wiley of Garland, Kan., and J.W. Wiley of Gaborn, Mo., both of whom were with him at the time of his death. He served his country during the rebellion three years and eight months as a member of the Seventy-eight Ohio infantry. He saw much service, being under Grant at Shiloh and marched with Sherman to the sea. After the war he was married to Elizabeth Bundy at Springville, Iowa, and to this union were born two sons, who died at the ages of 4 and 3 years. The mother also died in 1871. On March 18, 1875, he married Minerve Boyer of Chariden, Iowa, and to them six children were born--Mrs. Willa E. Crane of Springville, Iowa; Carl L., Mary D., Earl H., who died in infancy, Raymond F. and Caroline Irma of this city. Besides these children his wife survives him. Mrs. Wiley was an earnest worker and faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal church, having held many different offices in this organization. He was a brave soldier, a kind neighbor and loving husband and during his last illness was a most patient sufferer. The funeral was conducted at the M.E. church Monday at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. T.M. Evans, as slated by Rev. VanHorn of the Marion circuit and Rev. J.T. Crippen of Mt. Vernon.
