He came with his parents to Ohio when he was a babe and lived there until October 8, 1855. Then he and his family left Pike County, Ohio and started for the West. Read More	Father: Abraham Lawrence Mother: Dorothea Yoakum/Yocum "Hiram Lawrence was born in Hardy County, Virginia, June 29, 1815. He came with his parents to Ohio when he was a babe and lived there until October 8, 1855. Then he and his family left Pike County, Ohio and started for the West. They arrived in Holt County, Missouri, Nov. 21, 1855, where they lived until December 21, 1857, when they moved to Nodaway County. There Mr. Lawrence lived and prospered until the last few years during which time he has made his home among his children. Mr. Lawrence died at the home of his son, H.B. Lawrence, near Craig, and was brought to Nodaway County for interment. Funeral services were conducted at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Judge Leeper, by Elder Bauserman. The remains were deposited besides the body of his wife, who had gone before, in the Groves Cemetery. Thus closed the life of an aged and highly respected citizen. Thirty years ago, Hiram Lawrence was one of the best known citizens in this community. He owned a large farm south of Graham and was successful in his undertaking. He is spoken of by the old settlers as being kind and accommodating to all whom he met. Three children and several grandchildren attended the funeral." On October 20, 1844 in Chillicothe, Ross County, Ohio he married Mary Ann Strong, daughter of Elijah Strong (1788 PA-1841 OH) and Electa Stowell (born 1805 NY). " Hiram was a religious man, Universalist in belief, a republican in his politics. Hiram and Mary Ann came to Missouri in a covered wagon in 1855 with five children. They lived for a time in a log cabin near Graham, Missouri, in Nodaway County. Hiram own 640 acres in three counties; Andrew, Nodaway and Holt." Source of this information was from a brief biography of Judge William Leeper, son-in-law of Hiram and Mary Ann. Hiram and Mary Ann became the parents of seven children: Electa D.
