Description	:	Info below provided by: Cindy Walcott "Hiram McLellan, a widely known and highly respected citizen of this town [Glover], died of pneumonia last Thursday morning at 6 o'clock. He had suffered from a heart trouble for some time. Mr. McLellan was born in Sheffield, Nov. 10, 1818, and was the son of John McLellan. His mother's maiden name was Hannah Jenness. He had suffered from a heart trouble for some time. Mr. McLellan was born in Sheffield, Nov. 10, 1818, and was the son of John McLellan. His mother's maiden name was Hannah Jenness. He was the oldest of seven children and the last to go. His parents moved to Glover in 1820. Oct. 15, 1856 he married Emily A. Dwinell, who survives him. They had three children, Nellie, Hannah and John, the latter being the only one now living. His earlier years were spent on his farm. Later he was engaged in mercantile and mill business, and was president of Barton National bank for 27 years. The last years of his life were spent quietly at home with his wife and son John and family, from whom he received loving care. He was a very successful business man and financier and accumulated a large property. He was a man of sound judgment and keen business insight and was one of the wealthiest and most influential men in Orleans county. His familiar figure will be missed by old and young. Notwithstanding his advanced age he retained his mental faculties to a remarkable degree and was able to attend to his financial business the day before he died. He was a great reader and kept well informed in regard to all the leading events which transpired during the latter part of his life. Much sympathy is expressed for his family. Funeral services were held at his residence Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock, the Rev. Mr. Warner of Barton officiating." (Orleans County Monitor, 1/11/1904)
