Monterville Amter Stanford (b. 1853 in Ashe County, North Carolina; d. 1874 in La Follette, Campbell, Tennessee). He is buried at Sharp Cemetery in La Follette, Campbell, Tennessee. iv. Mary Jane Stanford Myers (b. 25 December 1856 in Grayson County, Virginia; d. 18 December 1913 in La Follette, Campbell, Tennessee). She married David Frank Myers (1849-1911). v. John F. Stanford (b. 8 May 1865 in La Follette, Campbell, Tennessee; d. 10 April 1929 in La Follette, Campbell, Tennessee). Hiram W. Stanford’s only known sibling was: i. Stanford married Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Howell in Ashe County, North Carolina. Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Howell was born in Ashe County, North Carolina. They resided in Mouth of Wilson, Grayson County, Virginia shortly after marriage. In the 1850 Census, Hiram W. Stanford, wife Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Howell Stanford and their eldest son, William Calvin Stanford (age 5) are found still living in District 19, Grayson, Virginia. William's name was misspelled as "Wilburn". They can once again be found on the same Census page as his brother Joseph Stanford (see the last four misspelled names on the 1850 Census page). In this 1850 Census, they also lived with Charles G. Taft, age 55. In the 1860 Census, Hiram W. Stanford, his wife Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Howell Stanford and their eldest four children can be found in Stecoah, Cherokee, North Carolina. In the 1870 and 1880 Censuses, Hiram W. Stanford, wife Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Howell Stanford and all of their children can be found living in (or near) La Follette, Campbell, Tennessee, where many of them had spent there entire lives. Hiram W. Stanford married Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Howell on 7 May 1844 in Ashe County, North Carolina. Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Howell was born in Grayson County, Virginia. They lived for about 20 years in Grayson County, Virginia where most of their children were born. In about 1857, Hiram W. Stanford along with his wife and oldest son, moved to Stecoah, Cherokee, North Carolina. They are found there in the 1860 Census. Before 1870 Hiram W. Stanford along with his wife and children, moved their entire family to Craigs, Campbell, Tennessee. This was near La Follette, Campbell, Tennessee. They are found there in the 1870 and 1880 Census. In 1857, Hiram W. Stanford moved away with his wife and their first child. Joseph Stanford remained in Grayson County, Virginia. Hiram W. Stanford was my 2g-grandfather, Gary W. Stanford.
