Description	:	Holgar Eijler Rasmussen, son of George and Petrea (Behrendt) Rasmussen, was born Dec. 3, 1910 at Harlan. He died at the Myrtue Memorial Hospital Feb. 25, 1994 at age 83 years, 2 months, and 22 days. He grew up on the farm near Rorbeck and attended country school at Fairview Township No. 1. After receiving his education, he worked for area farmers. He then joined the Civilian Conservation Corp working on public improvement projects in Southwest Iowa and North Dakota. Dec. 23, 1936 he married Mayme Petersen at Council Bluffs, Iowa. One son, Gaylord, was born to this union. After their marriage, they lived in an apartment, at the Park Hotel in Harlan, where he operated a truck. They then moved to a farm near Harlan and worked for Charlie White. In 1942 they moved to a farm east of Harlan where they farmed until they moved to a farm near Corley in 1948. After living there for on year they moved to a farm near Jacksonville, and remained there until 1990 when they moved to Harlan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred, Tom, Andrew, Carl and George Jr. He is survived by his wife Mayme; one son Gaylord (Carolyn) of Belton, MO; three grandchildren; one great-grandson, Kyle; and one brother Anker Rasmussen (Alyce); nieces and nephews and other relatives. Funeral services were held Feb. 28, 1994 at the Pauley Funeral Home with Pastor Jon Benson of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Harlan officiating. Burial was in the Harlan cemetery with Richard Rasmussen and Charlie Rasmussen honorary casket bearers. Casket bearers were Andy Rasmussen, Lawrence Rasmussen, Pete Rasmussen, Eugene Rasmussen, Gary Holloway and Randy Rasmussen. Pauley Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
