Read More	Sioux Falls - Hollie Ann Akin was born in Redfield to Menzo Frank and Myrtle Akin on July 17, 1947. She died on March 8, 2006, in Sioux Falls, with her family members at her side. She attended grade school and high school in Redfield, except for one year at South High School in Omaha, Neb. On Aug. 28, 1964, Hollie married Ernest Leesch Jr., at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Seven children were born of this union. Hollie worked as a nurse assistant and wanted to be trained as an R.N. In 1976, she attended Presentation College and graduated with honors in 1979. Since graduation, Hollie worked as an R.N. in many areas of healthcare and as a co-owner of an assisted living facility. Her love for the elderly and the ill was a key focus for her in life. A 2001 car accident in Sioux Falls made work difficult and she retired. One year later, she was diagnosed with cancer. For four years, she fought the cancer valiantly as her two youngest daughters were still in high school. In life, family and God were the most important to her. Always being a caregiver and friend to many who had little in life was what made Hollie happy. She was always ready to help. Hollie was a 14-year member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a perpetual adorer at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Sioux Falls. Grateful for having shared life with her are four daughters, Lisette (Michael) Leesch Bogner, Danette Leesch Bensen, Brianna Leesch and Kira Leesch; three sons, Tharen (Agnieszka) Leesch, Jarrett (Bianca) Leesch and Aaron Leesch along with her former husband Ernest Leesch; three grandchildren, Zane, Larissa and Finn; her parents Myrtle and Wilbur Herold, her brother James Akin and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her father M.F. Akin, her sister Marleene Ford and 11 half-siblings. There was visitation Friday, at Heritage Funeral Home, Sioux Falls. The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today, at St. Bernard's Church with internment at the St. Bernard's Catholic Cemetery in Redfield. We will miss her dearly.
