Survivors are his wife, four daughters and three sons: Mrs. Carol Pejak of Aspen, Mrs. Esther Maddalone, Mrs. Ruth Henry of Estes Park, Miss Emily Thorpe, Wesley, John and Paul Thorpe and the wife of the home. THORPE Graveside services were held last Thursday afternoon in Red Butte Cemetery for the late Hollis E. Thorpe, 49, who was instantly killed when the boom of a motor crane used for moving penstock tubes on the Colorado-Big Thompson project, moved close enough to the 44,000 volt line to arc across. The Aspen services were conducted by Aerie No. 184, Fraternal Order of Eagles in which Mr. Thorpe still maintained his membership being a Past Worthy President. Funeral services for Mr. Thorpe were held in Estes Park at the Estes Park Community Church with the Rev. Jason Harbert officiating. Hollis E. Thorpe was born August 20, 1899, at North Salem, Indiana where he grew to manhood. In 1917 he moved to Lamar, Colorado, where he married Miss Myrtle Shipman June 12, 1918. The family moved to Denver in 1922 and lived there until 1937 when they came to Aspen. In 1942 Mr. Thorpe secured employment on the Colorado-Big Thompson project and since that time they have lived in Estes Park. At the time of his untimely death, he was working for the Peter Kewitt & Sons Construction company. He was a veteran of World War I. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Thorpe, and seven children: Mrs. Esther Maddalone, Estes Park; Mrs. Carol Pecjak, Aspen; Mrs. Ruth Henry, Estes Park; and Paul, Wesley, John, and Emily, all of the home address; 9 grandchildren and one brother, Clarence, of Mexico, Mo.
