Mrs. Kersey was born June 17, 1949 in Florence County, daughter of the late Harry Kenneth "Kent" Gaskins and Jessie Lou White Gaskins. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and was a 1965 graduate of Hannah-Pamplico High School.
