An abscess had formed but he seemed to be somewhat improved yesterday. Around midnight there was a turn for the worse and he expired about 90 minutes later. Hollis Gene was the only son of the Charles Johnson, who lived on the Dan Neal farm. His age was one year, nine months and 24 days. There survives besides the parents a sister, Lulu Mae and grandparents, Mr & Mrs. Perry Lambert of Bladen and Mr. & Mrs. Edward Johnson of Crown City. Funeral services will be held at 2 [o'clock] Sunday at Kings Chapel, with Rev. Jennings Cremeens in charge. Burial there by Stevers. Gallipolis Daily Tribune Sept. 4, 1939
