Born in Truro Heights on August 18, 1910, he was a son of the late Charles and Loretta (Densmore) Weatherbee. Surviving are sons, Leland, Cecil (Lillian), Ross (Linda) and Raymond (Mary), all of Truro Heights; daughters, Eva (Harry) Johnson, East Mountain; Beatrice (Gary) Hingley, Bible Hill; Zelda (Donald) Harvey, Brookfield/Truro; daughter-in-law, Marie, Truro Heights; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. Born in Truro Heights on August 18, 1910, he was a son of the late Charles and Loretta (Densmore) Weatherbee. Surviving are sons, Leland, Cecil (Lillian), Ross (Linda) and Raymond (Mary), all of Truro Heights; daughters, Eva (Harry) Johnson, East Mountain; Beatrice (Gary) Hingley, Bible Hill; Zelda (Donald) Harvey, Brookfield/Truro; daughter-in-law, Marie, Truro Heights; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Ada (Dartt); son, Ivan; siblings, Howard and Alonzo, both killed in action in the First World War; Lydia, Norman, Russell, Roland, Violet; grandson, Aaron Weatherbee. Homer was a carpenter and built his home from lumber grown on his land and finished in his mill. He also built homes for friends and neighbours. Homer and Ada operated a general store for 32 years in Truro Heights. In his retirement years, Homer had many hobbies - drawing and painting, composing and playing music on many instruments, writing poetry, playing crib, and tracing his roots. He could be seen riding his bicycle well into his eighties. He was a member of Truro Heights United Baptist Church. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. today in Truro Heights United Baptist Church, where his funeral service will be held Friday at 3 p.m., Pastor Greg Porter officiating. Burial to follow in Truro Heights Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to Truro Heights United Baptist Church or Cemetery Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Co-operative, Upper Musquodoboit.
