Read More	Sioux Falls, SD ~ Homer El Knopf, 78, died on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at The Sioux Falls VA Hospital. Homer El Knopf was born on June 9, 1934 on a rural farm at Summit, SD to Elmer and Gladys (Ness) Knopf. Homer graduated high school in Summit and continued his education as a student of life. His journey was enriched through his service in the US Army from February 4th, 1954 until being honorably discharged on January 13, 1956. He served in Germany. During his early years he worked for the Milwaukee Railroad and the M & St. Louis Railway. On April 27, 1957 he was united in marriage with Anna Marie Wookey of Clark, SD. In 1958 the couple made their home in Sioux Falls, SD. Homer worked as a truck driver for Glendenning Motorways and Nash Finch. In 1981 He and Marie opened an Adult Foster Care facility in their home; it later became the K-nopf Assisted Living Center in which the whole family became involved in until 2005. Homer came from a loving family of 13 children. His first love was the Lord, and then his family. His family was everything in his life. He enjoyed family reunions. He loved traveling and vacationing with his brother and sister and their families. Homer shared his wisdom and gifts freely for the benefits of his family. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Anna Marie Knopf; children, Pamela (Mark McKleroy) Knopf, Michael (Kim) Knopf, Candace (Ron Kuper) Knopf, and Jeff (Heidi) Knopf; and daughter in law, Lisa Knopf. Special in his life are his 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his three brothers, Eugene (Aleda) Knopf, Ronald (Darlene) Knopf and Jimmy (Sharon) Knopf; and three sisters, Vivian Schmeling, Joyce Roberts, and Ramona Rudebusch. Homer is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Gladys; son, Patrick J.; three brothers, Douglas Knopf, Robert Knopf and his wife Marlene, and Elmer Knopf Jr.; three sisters, Dixie Knopf, Shirley and her husband, Eugene Rudebusch, and Patty Rollings and her husband, Nicholas.
