Sharp was killed about 11 a.m. Wednesday when the tractor-trailer rig crashed into the highway department truck. Sharp was thrown from the cab into the southbound lane of the interstate and was run over by a car driven by Phillip Bentley Jr. of Huntsville, Ala. The driver of the state truck, Paul Middaugh, 29, of Rt. 6, escaped with minor injuries. Mrs. Meade and Mrs. Jones were injured in a second accident which occurred at 11:57 a.m. in the southbound lane while wreckers were clearing the trucks from the roadway. Patrolmen said a car driven by Alton J. Kelley, 66, of Flint, Mich., had slowed for a flagman when another auto, driven by Frank M. Garza, 57, of Pontiac, Mich., was struck by one driven by Eugene Meade, 49, of Hi-Hat, Ky. The Meade auto pushed the Garza car into the Kelley vehicle, officers said. Treated at Memorial for minor injuries were Kelley and his wife, Jessie, 62; Meade; Garza and his passengers, daughter Debra, 9, wife Viona, 59, and John F. Nabiretta, 65. Deputies said the third accident occurred at 12:20 p.m. about a half mile south of the Reservoir Road overpass on I-75, when an auto driven south by Clyde A. Burgess, 63, of Detroit, failed to yield to a flagman. When Burgess realized he had to shift to one lane of traffic, he hit the brakes and his auto was struck in the rear by one driven by Clifford Schritchfield, 48, of 1698 Jo Jean Road. Burgess' wife, Myrtle, was treated at St. Rita's Hospital for minor injuries. Traffic on the interstate had to be re-routed while the wreckage from the three accidents was cleaned up. Hall was born Jan. 3, 1913, in Floyd County, Ky., the son of James and Katheryn Green Dotson Hall. His mother survives in Alger. He married Hazel Conley on April 4, 1936, and she survives. Also surviving are a step-daughter, Mrs. Jo (Louise) Wheeler of 474 Bowman Rd.; four grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Cornelius (Clore) Sparks, Mrs. Clifford (Eva) Clyde and Mrs. Edgar (Alma) Warner, all of Kenton, Mrs. James (Bertie) Bradford of Lucasville, Mrs. Max (Amanda) Higgins of 218 E. Kildare and Mrs. Kenneth (Thelma) Stimmel of Alger; five brothers, Byrd, Harlan and James, all of Alger, Walter of Alliance and John of Huntsville, Ala. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hanson Funeral Home, Alger, Rev. George Hurt officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery.
