Description	:	Homer Leland Brinning,78, of rural Keota, died of cancer Thursday May 28,1987, at University Hospital in Iowa City. He had been in failing health for the past three years. Services will be Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Washington with the Rev. Walter Phelps officiating. Burial will be in the Elm Grove Cemetery. Visitation has started at the Jones Funeral Home in Washington where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. Mr. Brinning was born in Washington County on June 30,1908 son of Henry and Christina(Luers)Brinning. He attended country schools and graduated from Washington High School. He married Alma Lena Kuehni in Rock Island, ILL. on Sept.27,1932. She died on July 4, 1984. Mr. Brinning was a farmer in Franklin township of Washington County all his life. He had worked for Funks, Pioneer, Northup King and Jacques Seed Corn companies and was area supervisor for Jacques Seed Corn Co. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and was a Flanklin township trustee and former member of the Knights of Pythias. Survivors include two sons; Richard of rural Keota; and Robert of rural Washington, one daughter, Bonnie( Mrs. Carol) Richardson of Keota; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; one brother, Leonard Brinning of Washington; and one sister, Celesta(Mrs.Elmer)Victor of Washington. He was preceded in death by his wife,one daughter,Karen, one granddaughter, and three infant brothers and sisters.
