Clevenger, 69, Rt. 1, Claypool (Beaver Dam Lake), died at 2:27 a.m. today at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, following a month-long illness. He was born Dec. 3, 1921 in Wabash County and had lived there most of his life. His parents were Ralph and Alta Landis Clevenger. In 1946 he married Betty Blackburn, who survives. Clevenger, 69, Rt. 1, Claypool (Beaver Dam Lake), died at 2:27 a.m. today at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, following a month-long illness. He was born Dec. 3, 1921 in Wabash County and had lived there most of his life. His parents were Ralph and Alta Landis Clevenger. In 1946 he married Betty Blackburn, who survives. In 1947 he began working for the U.S. Postal Service and, when he retired in 1980, was postmaster at North Manchester. He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946, and returned to active duty during the Korean War from 1950-51. He was a member of the First Christian Church, the Masonic Lodge, Shrine Club, American Legion, VFW, Elks and Moose, all of Wabash. He was also a past northern vice-commander of the American Legion. Surviving with his wife are two sons, Larry Dean, Warsaw, and Michael, Roanoke; a sister, Mrs. Mary Sink, Huntington; two brothers, John and William Clevener, both of Wabash, and six grandchildren. Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Eddingfield-DeLaughter Mortuary, Wabash, with the Rev. William Barbola officiating, assisted by Rev. Ron Zorn. #Burial will be in Falls Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 7-9 p.m. and Friday from 2-8 p.m. Masonic twilight services will be at 7 p.m. Friday.
