Born Oct. 2, 1918, in Davis City, he was the son of Joseph Artenius and Rosa Mae Coop Morrison. On March 20, 1937, he married Hygiene "Jean" Eleanor Carter in Kirksville, Mo. She died April 18, 2000. Mr. Morrison worked as a line supervisor for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant from 1941 to 1950. In 1952, he began his own business, Morrison Trucking, hauling rock and lime. Morrison, 86, of Danville, died Monday, May 9, 2005, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born Oct. 2, 1918, in Davis City, he was the son of Joseph Artenius and Rosa Mae Coop Morrison. On March 20, 1937, he married Hygiene "Jean" Eleanor Carter in Kirksville, Mo. She died April 18, 2000. Mr. Morrison worked as a line supervisor for the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant from 1941 to 1950. In 1952, he began his own business, Morrison Trucking, hauling rock and lime. He was of the Christian faith. He was a World War II Navy veteran, attaining the rank of Seaman 1st Class. He was a lifetime member of New London Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7641 and Moose Lodge in Burlington, Eagles Club, 50-year member of American Legion in Mount Pleasant, 25-year member of Danville Fire Department and served 25 years as president of Danville Development. He was an avid NASCAR fan and attended the Daytona 500 for many years. Survivors include one son, Gerald "Gerry" D. Morrison of Danville; one daughter, Marlene M. DeMarlie of Indianapolis; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, one infant son and two half sisters. Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Chapel in New London, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Morrison will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Dan Buck officiating. Burial will be in Long Creek Cemetery in rural Danville. A memorial has been established for Danville Fire and Rescue Department.
