Description	:	Hope E. Hass, 91, of Fremont died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont. She was born Oct. 9, 1920, to Charles and Jennie (Westerlin) Carlstrom in Bethany. Her early childhood years were spent in Lincoln, then she came to Fremont with her parents where she completed her education, graduating from Fremont High School. She was born Oct. 9, 1920, to Charles and Jennie (Westerlin) Carlstrom in Bethany. Her early childhood years were spent in Lincoln, then she came to Fremont with her parents where she completed her education, graduating from Fremont High School. She worked briefly in a bomb casing factory before her marriage. On Jan. 9, 1946, Hope was married in Scribner to Elmer Hass who was serving in the U.S. Navy. While he completed his service, she lived on Staten Island (New York). Upon his discharge, they came to Fremont where Elmer eventually became one of Hormel Foods first employees, after helping build the plant. Hope was a homemaker, raising their two children. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Jessie Benton Chapter of the Izaak Walton League. She had been active in an archery league of the Izaak Walton League. She also enjoyed bowling and playing golf. She had been inducted into the Fremont Bowling Hall of Fame. She was an avid Cornhusker Football fan. She had also been a den mother for the Boy Scouts and a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. Survivors include: a daughter, Trudy (Robert) Jones of West Point; a son, Roger (Sue) Hass of Fort Collins, Colo.; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Marilyn) Carlstrom of Fremont; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, on Nov. 7, 2009, and three brothers, Harold, Francis, and Roy Carlstrom. The funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Chapel of Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dan Heuer officiating. Visitation will be at the Ludvigsen Mortuary on Sunday from 2-7 p.m. with the family present from 4-7 p.m. The committal will be in Ridge Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church and Fremont Area Medical Center Hospice.
