Description	:	On January 24 1864, Elisha Hunt wrote to Alfred Hunt: "I cannot trace our own family beyond my Grandfather, Robert Hunt [Robert Hunt, Jr.], who settled here at Colestown early in the last Century, and was a man of business, had a large tract of land, a tanyard & nursery, kept many labourers, and race horses, his Father [Robert Hunt, Sr.] came from Gloucester in England. Hope was the youngest child of Robert Hunt, Jr. and Martha Bates, his second wife and the widow of George Ward. Hope and her three brothers and three sisters grew up near Colestown on their homestead that included "a large tract of land, a tanyard & nursery". Colestown was a woodland village that was close to a small lake fed by Pennsauken Creek as it meandered among gentle slopes. The village, located three miles south of Moorestown on Crooked Lane, was located close to where Colestown Cemetery presently sits at the intersection of Church Road and King's Highway. [1.] Robert and Abigail (Wood) Hunt's children: Abigail, b. April 26, 1737 John, b. August 5, 1740 Robert, b. August 1, 1745 Robert and Martha (Bates) Hunt's children: Elizabeth, b. July 25, 1750 Esther, b. March 5, 1752 Joshua, b. February 1, 1753 Hope, b. August 27, 1758 Hope Hunt and Samuel Stokes were married by Quaker ceremony on Thursday, January 21, 1779 in the Haddonfield Friends Meetinghouse.
